Textron to Donate up to $750,000 for Tsunami Relief Effort; Company and Employee Contributions to Aid Global Relief Efforts in Southeast Asia and Africa

    PROVIDENCE, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2005--Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) today announced that it will donate up to $750,000 to assist with relief efforts in the Southeast Asian and African countries affected by the recent devastation and aftermath caused by the December 26th earthquake and related tsunamis. The donation includes an initial company contribution of $250,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund's tsunami relief efforts, in addition to a $250,000 grant for a dollar-for-dollar match of employee contributions to the organization.

    About American Red Cross International Response Fund Relief Efforts

    The American Red Cross responded immediately to the disaster and has been coordinating efforts through the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Among other services, the national societies in the affected areas are treating the injured, providing shelter and emergency supplies and delivering critical psychosocial health services for those traumatized by these events. The American Red Cross has deployed teams of specialized relief workers and has moved emergency relief supplies such as family tents, hygiene kits and kitchen sets to the affected regions. The American Red Cross continues contact with its partners on the ground in order to support operations with relief supplies, financial assistance, technical supplies, tracing activities and personnel as requested by affected sister International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.
