Tenet Announces St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Appoints New Hospital CEO
Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced that St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children appointed Carolyn Jackson as its chief executive officer. Jackson will join St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, a 189-bed pediatric hospital located in Philadelphia, Pa., effective today.
"Carolyn is an exceptional hospital leader with an unquenchable desire for continuous improvement,” said Stephen L. Newman, M.D., Tenet’s chief operating officer. "She spreads her enthusiasm for excellence throughout her team. She has a proven track record in hospital operations and development, which will assure that St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children continues its well-earned reputation for providing high quality care to the Philadelphia metropolitan area and southern New Jersey.”
Jackson most recently served as chief executive officer for Lake Pointe Health Network in Rowlett, Texas, which includes a 112-bed hospital plus two outpatient imaging centers, two sleep labs, a wound care center, an urgent care center and four physician clinics. Jackson was instrumental in completing a number of major capital projects including a new 14-bed intensive care unit and a new endoscopy suite. Under her leadership, the hospital grew from 99 beds to 112 beds.
Jackson’s leadership also led to numerous national recognitions for the hospital including the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates’ Outstanding Patient Experience awards for outpatient and emergency services in 2008 and for maternity services in 2009. Lake Pointe Medical Center achieved the Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2007, and the American Heart Association awarded the hospital Gold recognition for performance measures in Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease. Under her leadership, Lake Pointe Medical Center became a four-time recipient Tenet’s prestigious Circle of Excellence award.
She also served as chief operating officer at Lake Pointe and was part of an elite management training program that Tenet designed to accelerate the development of hospital executives. Prior to joining Tenet, Jackson served as assistant process manager and a process engineer for Roche Carolina, Inc., a pharmaceutical production site for Hoffman-LaRoche.
Jackson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in Newark and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and was recognized as one of "40 Under 40” by the Dallas Business Journal.
