Telephone And Data Systems Q3 Loss Widens

(RTTNews) - Chicago-based telecom company Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (TDS), Friday reported third-quarter loss of $116 million or $1.07 per share, compared with last year's loss of $9.5 million or $0.09 per share. In the latest quarter included $84 million non-cash goodwill impairment charge related to the HMS segment and $30 million of net deferred tax expense related to adjusting valuation allowances on deferred tax assets. Quarterly operating revenues rose to $1.28 billion from $1.18 billion a year ago.

Looking ahead, for fiscal 2014, the firm now expects total operating revenues for the U.S. Cellular to be in a range of $3.9 billion - $4.0 billion.
