Telcel and Jasper Wireless Join Forces to Connect Consumer and M2M Devices
Telcel and Jasper Wireless announced today a multi-year, strategic agreement to connect and support a variety of emerging consumer electronics and business devices on Telcel’s nationwide wireless network. The Jasper Wireless platform will provide Telcel with the applications and services necessary to accelerate market entry of new categories of connected devices on its network.
Mexico has a vibrant telecoms market with an established track record of delivering machine-to-machine (M2M) services such as wireless security monitoring and point-of-sale to both businesses and consumers. With a new generation of connected devices including personal navigation, healthcare and e-readers entering the market, Telcel has partnered with Jasper Wireless to continue providing a superior user experience to its customers.
"The rise of connected devices presents an important market opportunity for Telcel and its customers. And getting the fundamentals right is vital as wirelessly connecting consumer electronics and M2M devices requires a unique set of assets,” according to Cindy Patterson, executive vice president - worldwide sales and marketing, Jasper Wireless.
"Jasper Wireless has developed a complete service platform with the applications required to build, deploy and manage connected devices with the lowest total cost of operations. With the Jasper Wireless platform, Telcel will grow the connected devices category by enabling its customers to deploy their connected devices profitably and at scale,” Patterson added.
Telcel’s customers will benefit from Jasper Wireless’s global platform, reducing their time-to-market and providing a low total cost of ownership (TCO). Jasper Wireless’s platform, applications, and design services are designed to accelerate market entry for connected devices. Examples of the new generation of connected devices include wireless payment, wireless security monitoring, healthcare, tracking, and in-car navigation systems.
Additionally, Jasper Wireless’s automation of operational processes ensures a superior out-of-box user experience, which includes custom device provisioning, instant activation, real-time support tools as well as detailed billing and usage reports. All applications and services are managed through the Jasper Wireless platform, which has been designed exclusively for M2M and consumer electronics communications.
Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. The companies expect to connect the first device under the agreement in the coming weeks.
