Tektronix Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer Wins 2007 Canadian Technical Security Conference Award

BEAVERTON, Ore., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tektronix, Inc. , a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that the Professional Development TSCM Group Inc. (PDTG) awarded the RSA6114A Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer the 2007 Canadian Technical Security Conference (CTSC) Award for significant industry contribution, research and engineering design. The RSA6114A was chosen by members of the CTSC committee, a committee composed of professionals from PDTG, Inc. at the 2007 Canadian Technical Security Conference (CTSC).

Computing technologies have arrived in the radio world which has led to the replacement of analog processes with digital technologies, or what is often termed "digital RF," where much of the design is implemented in software through the extensive use of digital signal processing (DSP). The rapid expansion of digital RF applications has driven the measurement needs of many applications including radar, mobile communications, software defined radio (SDR), cognitive radio and surveillance beyond the capabilities of swept spectrum and vector signal analysis. Most digital RF technologies enable time varying techniques to more efficiently use available spectrum, avoid interference and ensure seamless operation. The characteristics of these new systems results in radio signals that are extremely difficult to discover and capture for analysis. Tektronix' Real-Time Spectrum Analyzers are the only spectrum analyzers in the market designed to meet the needs of engineers and technicians who design and test digital RF technologies and applications.

The Canadian Technical Security Conference (CTSC) is an organization composed of Technical Security Specialists and members of the Canadian Technical Security Professional Association (CTSPA). Delegates and speakers of the conference include technical security professionals representing private companies, law enforcement, military and government organizations from Canada and around the world. The primary sponsor and organizer of the annual event is Professional Development TSCM Group Inc. (PDTG). The annual conference serves two primary objectives. First, the conference provides an educational component for professional skills development. Secondly, it provides a networking opportunity for professional TSCM operators, equipment manufactures, and the end user clients that are responsible for implementing Technical Security (TS), Communication Security (COMSEC), and Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) programs within the private, corporate or government sector they represent.

"As technology advancements and new threats such as terrorism and economic espionage are identified on a daily basis is it essential that the technical surveillance industry use state-of-the-art equipment," said Paul Turner TSB certified Technical Security Specialist (TSS). "Tektronix' real-time spectrum analyzer concept and DPX Spectrum display really works for our industry and enables our professionals to monitor signals more effectively with its ability to quickly identify and isolate signals of interest."

"We are honored to have been chosen for the 2007 Canadian Technical Security Conference Award by such an important industry affiliation," said Rick King, Vice President, Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer Product Line, Tektronix. "Our mission is to enable our customers to solve challenging measurement problems. The DPX(TM) waveform image processor technology and frequency mask triggering capabilities embodied in our Real-Time Spectrum Analyzers provide unique and very powerful capabilities for surveillance applications."

The Tektronix RSA6100A Series of Real-Time Spectrum Analyzers provide an unmatched combination of real-time performance, capture bandwidth, and dynamic range to meet the needs of a broad range of cutting-edge digital RF applications. DPX(TM) waveform image processor technology transforms volumes of real-time data to produce a live RF spectrum presentation that reveals previously unseen RF signals and signal anomalies. Live RF is achieved by improving the spectrum measurement rate nearly 1000 times compared to the fastest swept spectrum and vector signal analyzers (VSA). The revolutionary Live RF spectrum display provides an intuitive live color view of signal transients changing over time in the frequency domain.
