Tech Data Appoints Robert G. O'Malley Senior Vice President of U.S. Marketing

    CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2005--Tech Data Corporation, a leading global provider of IT products, logistics management and other value-added services, today named Robert G. O'Malley senior vice president of U.S. Marketing. O'Malley, reporting to President of the Americas Ken Lamneck, will lead the distributor's Specialized Business Units (SBUs), Product Marketing divisions and Marketing Services organization.
    O'Malley began his extensive career in the IT industry when he joined IBM in 1976. During his 19 years with the company, O'Malley served in several senior leadership roles including general manager of PC desktop systems, vice president of PC marketing and brand management for the Americas, and vice president of sales for IBM's National Distribution Division. In 1995, he joined the $5 billion international IT distributor and integrator MicroAge Inc. as president of MicroAge Data Services. He was later named president of MicroAge before being appointed CEO of its distribution subsidiary Pinacor Inc.

    After Pinacor, in 1999 O'Malley became president of Intermec Technologies Corp., a manufacturer of data capture and radio frequency identification (RFID) products. He was later appointed chairman, CEO and president of Immersion Inc., a leading developer of tactile technology licensed to computer peripherals manufacturers. Most recently, O'Malley served as a consultant helping an array of technology manufacturers develop distribution and marketing strategies.
