    GARDEN CITY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2005--TDK U.S.A. Corporation, a subsidiary of Japan-based TDK Corporation and the parent company of all TDK subsidiaries in the United States, today announced that Francis J. Sweeney has been promoted to the position of President. As President, Mr. Sweeney will be responsible for both the daily operations of TDK U.S.A. Corporation and the long-term strategy of TDK's businesses in the United States.

    Mr. Sweeney joined TDK in 1989 as General Counsel and was subsequently promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. As President of TDK U.S.A. Corporation, Sweeney reports to CEO Kenichi Aoshima, who has announced plans to retire in the coming year.

He has lectured on the topics of intellectual property rights, ethics and virtual acquisitions. He has been married to his wife, Vicki, for 28 years; together they have four grown children.
