Business Editors/Technology Writers
BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2005--SafeNet, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced that it has been chosen by Tally Solutions Pvt. Ltd., India's biggest and most successful business accounting software, to help define software security mechanisms for Tally's products. The multi-year agreement will allow Tally Solutions to use SafeNet expertise, as Tally Solutions dramatically expands its distribution channels for the industry's leading software product.
SafeNet security solutions are used to protect software, enabling customers to reduce piracy of their software, while enabling new revenue-generating business licensing models that are easy to use by both the software developer and their customers.
"Software piracy affects consumers as well as software developers. We want to adopt a pro-active approach with our software by introducing new business models that are in line with customer demands, while fighting piracy with the right levels of security built into the product," said Bharat Goenka, Managing Director for Tally Solutions. "We have chosen SafeNet to assist us in developing the right solution, because of their immense expertise in security solutions for software industry, and ability to provide local engineering and technical support."
This new agreement continues SafeNet's expansion into broader software protection markets, including not only highly specialized software applications but also software sold at lower price points to a wider market. For such software, creativity in distribution and licensing mechanisms is key to tackling piracy.
The partnership with Tally Solutions will further strengthen SafeNet's License Management Software Solution, the latest release of which was announced earlier this month, on January 26th.
"Tally Solutions is a global leading provider of financial accounting software packages and is an integral part a variety of large, medium and small businesses spanning Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East and Africa," said Carole Argo, President and Chief Operating Officer for SafeNet. "We are excited to be a security partner for them, and to offer a solution for their leading software. Together, we can offer Tally's customers new licensing opportunities, and tackle security issues."
