Symson Named VP/Interactive for Scripps TV Station Group

CINCINNATI, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Adam Symson, who has held a variety of leadership positions within The E. W. Scripps Company since 2002, has been named vice president, interactive for the company's Television Station Group. This newly created role was designed to help the company's 10 television stations generate interactive revenue, develop interactive sales strategies, grow vibrant online communities and produce new Web and wireless products across multiple online properties.

Effective immediately, Symson will report to Bill Peterson, senior vice president of the Scripps TV Station Group.

In this new role, Symson, 32, will lead the TV Station Group's strategies and initiatives across the Internet, wireless, secondary digital channels and other new media. He'll work with the company's stations, which include nine network-affiliated operations, to optimize design and content to enhance the financial performance of their Web sites.

"At his core, Adam is a journalist, but he has demonstrated excellent business and interactive media leadership skills," said Peterson. "His trademark passion and persistence will make him successful in this important new role."

The promotion represents a return to Symson's roots. Since Sept. 2006 he has been the director of content and marketing for the Scripps Interactive Media division, but he previously served for three years in a corporate role advising Scripps television stations on news strategy, investigative reports and operations. He was named the station group's director of news strategy and operations in September 2005, and prior to that was director of investigations and special projects.

Symson also has served as executive producer of investigations and special projects for KNXV-TV, the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in Phoenix. He's worked as an investigative producer for two CBS-owned stations, WBBM-TV in Chicago and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, and specialized in breaking news and political coverage while working as an independent producer for CBS News and NBC News.

Symson has a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of California, Los Angeles.
