SunTrust Banks Inc. Q3 Income Rises 12%

(RTTNews) - SunTrust Banks Inc. (STI) released earnings for its third quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $512 million, or $1.06 per share. This was up from $457 million, or $0.91 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.05 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 3.6% to $2.31 billion. This was up from $2.23 billion last year.
