Stock Alert: Fluidigm Shares Surge 13% In Premarket

(RTTNews) - Shares of Fluidigm Corp. (FLDM) are soaring over 13% in pre-market today, after the company announced that OU Medicine, the University of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or OMRF intend to utilize Fluidigm microfluidics technology and certain reagents to test individuals for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19.

The test, developed by OMRF and OU Health Sciences Center scientists and utilizing Fluidigm products, is intended for large-scale testing of patients across the OU Medicine health care system. Further, the company noted that OU Medicine has applied for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the test from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The stock has been trading between $1.17 and $14.30 in the past one year, and closed Wednesday's trade at $2.16, up 11 cents or 5.37%. FLDM is currently trading at $2.45, up 29 cents or 13.43% in the pre-market trading session.
