Sohu.com Turns To Profit In Q3, Changyou.com Profit Surges

(RTTNews) - Sohu.com Inc. (SOHU), China's leading online media, search, gaming, community and mobile service group, said third-quarter attributable net income was $39 million, or $1 per share, compared to a loss of $27.14 million or $ 0.74 per share last year.

Non-GAAP net income attributable to Sohu.com Inc. was $1.27 per share, while it totaled $0.61 per share loss last year. On average, nine analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected a loss of $0.62 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues climbed 21 percent to $522 million from $430.4 million reported last year.

For the fourth quarter, the company expects non-GAAP attributable net loss to be between $15 million and $25 million, and non-GAAP loss per share to be between $0.40 and $0.65. Wall Street expects a loss of $0.42 per share.

Total revenues are estimated to be between $435 million and $465 million. Analysts expect revenues of $515.26 million.

Meanwhile, Sohu's subsidiary Changyou.com (CYOU) said its third-quarter attributable net income surged to $81.12 million from $3.32 million. Earnings per share were $1.55, compared to $0.06 last year.

The latest results included other income of $59 million, compared to $0.3 million in the third quarter of 2014. Other income includes one-off income related to gain recognized upon the divestment of 7Road and certain overseas assets during the just concluded third quarter.

Adjusted earnings per share were $1.43, compared to $0.07 last year. Revenues climbed to $188.9 million from $180.8 million.

Analysts expected earnings of $0.72 per share on revenues of $ 176.43 million.

For the fourth quarter, the company expects total revenues to be between $145 million and $155 million, and income attributable to Changyou.com Limited per ADS to be between $0.56 and $0.65. Wall Street looks for earnings of $0.76 per share and revenues of $182.45 million.
