SkyWest, Inc. Reports Combined March 2017 Traffic for SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines

ST. GEORGE, Utah, April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) ("SkyWest") today reported 161,884 block hours in March 2017, compared to 171,643 block hours in March 2016, a decrease of 9,759 or 5.7%.  The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest's fleet transition plan to improve the mix of aircraft in its fleet by adding new E175 aircraft, while reducing its 50-seat jets.  

The year-over-year net change was primarily driven by approximately 13,300 additional block hours from its E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 23,100 block hours from its other aircraft types.   

In March 2017, SkyWest's dual class aircraft represented approximately 49% of SkyWest's total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 42% for the month of March 2016.       

SkyWest reported 452,683 block hours for year-to-date March 2017, compared to 486,872 block hours year-to-date March 2016, a decrease of 34,189, or 7.0%.  This net change was primarily driven by approximately 36,800 additional block hours from its E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 71,000 block hours from its other aircraft types.

SkyWest had 96,010 departures in March 2017 compared to 101,895 in March 2016, a decrease of 5,885, or 5.8%.  SkyWest generated 2.86 billion available seat miles (ASMs) for March 2017, compared to 3.01 billion ASMs for March 2016, or a 5.1% decrease.
