Sequans Powers Two New Nextbook LTE Tablets for the Verizon Wireless LTE Network
Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS) announced today that two new Nextbook tablets, built by E FUN, have Sequans’ LTE chipset inside. The two new touchscreen tablets, Nextbook Ares 8L and Nextbook Ares 10L, are designed and certified to operate on the Verizon Wireless LTE network. The tablets are the newest in E FUN’s successful Nextbook product line and they are now available from the world’s largest retailer.
"The E FUN Nextbook tablets are excellent devices with powerful capabilities and yet affordable for the mass market,” said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. "I believe the smart combination of attractive tablet functionality, the built-in, always-connected power of Verizon’s 4G LTE network, and excellent affordability will give them immediate consumer acceptance and we are very pleased to see them made available everywhere in the U.S. by the world’s largest retailer.”
The Sequans technology inside the Nextbook tablets is the VZ20M EZLinkLTE™ module, which is certified compliant with Verizon Wireless Open Network specifications and operates on LTE bands 4 and 13. VZ20M is an M.2 module based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE platform. Mont Blanc is a single-mode LTE chipset platform optimized for the design of high-speed LTE devices. It delivers category 4 throughput of up to 150 Mbps and supports eMBMS (LTE broadcast) and other advanced features. The chip features dual-CPUs allowing all software to reside in the module thus enabling complete module certification and easy interface with any tablet application processor. VZ20M comes pre-tested, pre-integrated, and pre-certified, and supports all major operating systems.
"We chose Sequans’ proven LTE chipset technology for these new Nextbook tablets because of their cost, performance, and feature functionality,” said Jason Liszewski, managing director and vice president of sales at E FUN. "The pre-certified, all-in-one capability of the VZ20M module enabled us to bring our first LTE tablets quickly to market.”
The Nextbook Ares tablets from E FUN allow users to go online anywhere, anytime with Verizon’s super fast 4G LTE network. The Nextbook Ares 8L and Nextbook Ares 10L tablets feature Android 5.0 Lollipop, a 1280x800 IPS screen, Intel Atom Quad-Core processor, 1GB system memory, 16GB storage memory, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, front and rear cameras, microSD card slot, and more. The Ares 10L 2-in-1 tablet comes complete with a magnetic detachable keyboard with two standard USB ports.
