Sasol Announces Two New Appointments to its Group Executive Committee
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sasol today announced two new appointments to its Group Executive Committee.
Bheki Khumalo, the former long-serving spokesperson to President Thabo Mbeki, will join the company in January 2007 as group general manager in charge of Government Relations, Corporate Affairs (which includes brand management, sponsorships, corporate social investment and communications), as well as the BEE Office.
Khumalo joins Sasol from Siemens where he has served as executive director: Corporate Affairs and was a member of the Siemens Board and of its Executive Committee. Khumalo will likewise serve on the Group Executive Committee of Sasol and several main subsidiary boards.
Recently Khumalo joined the Presidential Black Business Working Group and was appointed by Cabinet to the SA Tourism Board. He recently concluded a term on the Board of Directors of the Black Management Forum.

Sasol Chief Executive, Pat Davies, says that Khumalo's appointment demonstrates Sasol's firm commitment to deepen its relations with government, continue to grow its corporate affairs role, and advance black economic empowerment and transformation. Khumalo brings with him more than two decades experience in the marketing and communications mix, which will clearly stand him in good stead at Sasol going forward. Davies also welcomed Dr Reiner Groh to the Group Executive Committee. Dr Groh has been with Sasol for over five years during which he was Managing Director of Sasol Solvents, within its chemicals portfolio of businesses. Dr Groh, who has substantial international experience of the chemical industry, will relocate from Germany to South Africa and will take up his new appointment with effect from January 2007.
