Saint-Gobain H1 Profit Declines - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - French building materials company Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA (CODGF.PK) said Wednesday that its net income for the first-half of 2013 fell 28.3% to €332 million from €463 million in the same period last year.
Earnings per share for the first-half were €0.60, down 31.0% from €0.87 in last year's first-half.
Excluding special items, recurring net income for the first-half decreased 30.6% to €422 million from €608 million a year earlier. Recurring earnings per share declined to €0.76 from €1.14 last year.
Operating income for the first-half of 2013 was down 15.7% from a year ago, hurt by lower sales volumes. As a result, the operating margin narrowed, to 6.1% from 6.9% in first-half 2012.
Sales for the first-half of 2013 dropped 3.8% to €20.77 billion from €21.59 billion in the first-half of 2012.
The company said it expects a recovery in operating income in the second-half after having bottomed out in the first half of 2013.
