Ruth G. Shaw Joins DTE Energy Board of Directors

DETROIT, Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ruth G. Shaw, past president and CEO of Duke Power Co., has joined the DTE Energy Board of Directors. She will serve on the Nuclear Review Committee.

Shaw served as president and CEO of Duke Power Co. from 2003 to 2006, when she was named group executive for public policy and president of Duke Nuclear. Shaw also has served as a member of the board of directors and the executive committee of the Nuclear Energy Institute and of the board of directors of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.

"Ruth's vast background and experience in the energy industry will serve our board and company well," said Anthony F. Earley Jr., DTE Energy chairman and CEO. "We look forward to working with her, especially as we consider the construction of a new nuclear unit."

A native of Danville, Va., Shaw received her bachelor's (magna cum laude) and master's degrees in English from East Carolina University. She also received her Ph.D. in higher educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a University Fellow.

Shaw, elected to the DTE Energy board in 2007, also is a member of the board of directors for The Dow Chemical Co. and for Wachovia Corp.
