Rohm and Haas Vice President Pierre R. Brondeau Speaks at Lehman Brothers Conference in Barcelona

BARCELONA, Spain, March 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rohm and Haas Company Vice President and Business Group Executive Pierre R. Brondeau spoke this morning with analysts at the Lehman Brothers Global Chemical Industry Leaders Conference in Barcelona, Spain and confirmed that the company's strategic commitment to innovation through technology is as strong as ever.

As Business Group Executive for Rohm and Haas's Electronic Materials segment, Brondeau is responsible for both the company's fastest-growing business segment and one of its two major technology platforms. Brondeau described the electronic materials industry as the most dynamic market served by Rohm and Haas and one in which it is uniquely positioned. "Rohm and Haas has a unique position in this industry, with a broad portfolio, leadership in enabling technologies, robust integration knowledge, a strong footprint in Asia, and new growth platforms, such as flat panel displays and optoelectronics," he said.

According to Brondeau, the company is currently building its product offerings for the Display Materials market, which is growing at a rapid rate of approximately 17 percent per year. "Our core strengths in photolithography, metallization, chemical mechanical planarization, and polymer synthesis give us an array of products that enable the production of the 'picture perfect' displays that are in such demand in today's marketplace," he explained.

With a strategy that calls for heavy investment in Electronic Materials R&D (8 percent of 2005 EM sales), active participation in industry roadmap development, and a focus on Asia, Brondeau noted that the company has under construction both a new Research and Development Center in Shanghai, and a new Manufacturing and Technical Center for CMP Technologies in Taiwan.
