Rock-Tenn Cuts Q2 Earnings Outlook

(RTTNews) - Rock-Tenn Co. (RKT) said Tuesday that it now expects to report adjusted earnings per share for its fiscal second quarter ending March 31, 2015, in the range of $0.70 to $0.75 per share, compared to its prior guidance of $0.80 to $0.90 per share.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters currently expect the company to report earnings of $0.88 per share for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said the change in second quarter outlook reflects that its strong corrugated packaging volume performance has been more than offset by the consequences of winter weather, including natural gas curtailment and challenging logistics execution, a substantial electrical failure at its Panama City mill in early February, and lower promotional activity.
