Rite Aid Corp October Same-store Sales Up 2.1% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Retail drugstore chain operator Rite Aid Corp. (RAD), Thursday said for the four weeks ended October 26, same-store sales increased 2.1 percent from last year, while the front-end same store sales decreased 0.6 percent. Total drugstore sales increased 2.2 percent to $1.961 billion, compared with $1.918 billion last year. Prescription sales were 69.1 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97 percent of pharmacy sales.

The company said that including about 85 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, pharmacy same store sales increased 3.4 percent. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 1.1 percent over the prior-year period. The company anticipates that the cycling of the impact of Superstorm Sandy will have a positive impact on November's sales results.
