Research and Markets -- Global Military Aircraft Modernization and Upgrade and Retrofit Market (2017-2021) - Key Vendors are Boeing, IAI & Lockheed Martin
DUBLIN, Dec. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Military Aircraft Modernization and Upgrade and Retrofit Market 2017-2021" report to their offering.
The report forecasts the global military aircraft modernization and upgrade and retrofit market to grow at a CAGR of 2.47% during the period 2017-2021.
The report has been prepared based on an in-depth market analysis with inputs from industry experts. The report covers the market landscape and its growth prospects over the coming years. The report also includes a discussion of the key vendors operating in this market.
In 2011, a consortium comprising European countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Sweden developed high-speed air-to-air missiles to be installed in a combat aircraft. These missiles have a greater strike range and are guided by radar systems to chase and destroy a moving target. These missiles use throttleable ducted rocket propulsion system, which enables long range and a higher average speed. They exhibit enhanced kinematic performance, which is 3-6 times greater than the traditional air-to-air missiles that are used by several defense ministries. The incorporation of such advanced missiles in fighter aircraft would make them more lethal, capable, and effective.
According to the report, Rockwell Collins and Honeywell Aerospace, a subsidiary of Honeywell International have developed an advanced cockpit technology to address the challenges that military aircraft face while operating in degraded visual environments. In 2014, Honeywell Aerospace developed the Synthetic Vision Avionics Backbone (SVAB) system with the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which operated a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk in a degraded visual environment. The system used a sensor-impartial approach and consisted of multiple sensors and databases to create an integrated 3D environment for pilots. SVAB enables pilots to look at a synthetic environment of obstacles and help aircraft land safely, thus providing a better situational awareness.
