Rejlers invests in Smart Grid and Big Data

Regulatory News:

The digitalisation of physical infrastructure is an ongoing mega-trend. Smart Grid are now being rolled out on a large scale. Rejlers is a Nordic company that is at the forefront of these areas and will be appearing at the SvD Energy Summit in Stockholm today. Digitalisation helps to make energy production and use more effective and thereby sustainable.

"With smart electricity networks, you can steer a network digitally, control it and save resources. That makes it possible to have local micro-production and distribution of electricity and gives user-flexibility," says Thomas Pettersen, CEO Rejlers Embriq.

"By using new technology in the right way, we will be able to consume more while at the same time using less. This will increase the chances of us reaching the climate objectives that were established in Paris," says Jenny Edfast, Business Manager Energy Rejlers Sweden.

Both Thomas Pettersen and Jenny Edfast will be appearing at the SvD Energy Summit in Stockholm today, 13 September, together with Ibrahim Baylan, Minister for Policy Coordination and Energy, among others.

Big Data - What do we do with the knowledge?

"There is huge potential in this for us. The knowledge from Big Data is used, among other things, to make energy use more efficient. You can run, control and optimise on the basis of these readings. You can also communicate to users what their consumption looks like," says Thomas Pettersen.

"We are becoming better and better at using data to plan, follow up and optimise use, for example, how we can invest more precisely in the building of networks. We will not be dependent on theoretical models; instead we can base decisions on precise reading," Jenny Edfast explains.

"Internet of Things (loT) is constantly developing and offers new possibilities. Smart metering is seen as being one of the areas where IoT has come the furthest. The digitalisation of the energy sector is to be one of Rejlers' expert areas," says Thomas and Jenny.

Service Hub

All readings are saved in an Electricity Hub. Sweden, Norway and other countries all have separate hubs in accordance with an EU directive. In Sweden, the hub is run by Svenska Kraftnät. The electricity hub makes it possible to have a Nordic end customer market. Norway has taken the lead in introducing an electricity hub.

"We are developing a system that has "pattern recognition". By using algorithms, we can find a certain fault, identify consumption patterns, and be proactive with regard to maintenance, current management and effect control," says Jenny. This can be likened to face recognition at passport controls, where one specific pattern can be found among millions of others.
