(RTTNews) - Red Hat, Inc. (RHT) Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $52.0 million or $0.27 per share, compared to $34.8 million or $0.18 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Adjusted earnings for the latest third quarter were $80.9 million, or $0.42 per share, up from $56.9 million, or $0.29 per share in the prior year quarter. On average, 32 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.35 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues increased 15 percent to $396.54 million from $343.61 million last year, while 28 analysts expected revenues of $383.11 million.
