Prudential Q2 Profit Tops Estimate

(RTTNews) - Prudential Financial, Inc. (PRU) reported net income for the second quarter of $1.41 billion or $3.03 per share, compared to $1.05 billion or $2.22 per share) for the company's Financial Services Businesses in the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted operating income for the second quarter was $1.35 billion or $2.91 per share, compared to $1.18 billion or $2.49 per share for the company's Financial Services Businesses in the prior year quarter.

Total revenue for the second quarter rose to $12.50 billion from $11.11 billion a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $2.47 per share on revenue of $11.17 billion for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
