AOL Inc. (AOL) is surging 18 percent to $50.21 as Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) has agreed to purchase AOL for $50 per share, at an estimated total value of about $4.4 billion. VZ is down 0.30 percent to $49.65.

Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) is rising 1 percent to $44.00.

PartnerRe Ltd. (PRE) is up 2 percent to $136.50. EXOR S.p.A. (EXOSF.PK) announced that it has raised its offer for PartnerRe to $137.50 per share in cash, valuing the company at $6.8 billion.

magicJack VocalTec Ltd. (CALL) is gaining 16 percent to $8.14 following the release of its first quarter results.
