Praxair Recognized for Global Sustainable Development Leadership and World-Class Environmental Reporting

Praxair, Inc. (NYSE:PX) was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World and North American Indices (DJSI) and the CDP’s Global 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) recognizing the company’s long-standing commitment to global sustainable development and best-in-class environmental reporting.

Praxair is the only U.S.-based company in the chemical sector to be selected for the DJSI for 11 consecutive years. DJSI selections are based on an in-depth analysis of a company’s economic, environmental and social practices including climate strategy, corporate governance, risk management, innovation, supply-chain standards and labor practices. Emphasis is also placed on industry-specific risks and opportunities.

Praxair’s global sustainable development program helps customers worldwide improve their environmental performance and carbon footprint and reduces Praxair’s own environmental resource intensity. The program is also driving productivity savings across the company and in 2012 sustainable productivity savings related to reductions in energy, fuel, water or waste contributed 25 percent of total productivity benefits. Employees worked on more than 1,750 projects in 2012 that saved 300 million gallons of water, 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and approximately 500,000 metric tons of CO₂.

Praxair is one of only 60 companies worldwide recognized by CDP, an international, not-for-profit organization that provides the world’s only global environmental disclosure system, for the quality and completeness of its carbon management reporting. In addition, Praxair is one of only four companies selected for the global index for six consecutive years.
