Pöyry awarded site supervision services assignment by GKI at new 89 MW Hydropower plant in Austria

Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Inn (GKI) has awarded Pöyry with the assignment for site supervision services at a new 89 MW Hydropower plant in Austria. The average output of the plant will be able to supply more than 90,000 households with CO2-free electricity. The project commenced in August 2014 and will be executed with a local consortium partner to the end of 2019.

The power plant is situated in the upper part of the Inn valley, near the Swiss border in the province of Tyrol. The project consists of a 2.5 km long reservoir, a 15 m high weir, a 23.2 km long head race tunnel with diameters of 5.5 m to 5.8 m and a power house with 2 Francis Turbines with a total installed capacity of 89 MW. The average output of 414.3 million kWh will be able to supply more than 90,000 households with CO2-free electricity. The electricity will be integrated into the Austrian high voltage grid. The total investment amounts to 461 MEUR.

The value of the order is not disclosed. The order was recognised within the Regional Operations Business Line order stock in Q3/2014.
