PÖYRY PLC Press Release 12 March 2015 at 10 am (EET)
Pöyry awarded engineering services assignments for twelve gas fired combined cycle power plant projects in Thailand
Toyo Engineering Corporation has awarded Pöyry with engineering services assignments for nine 120 MW and three 130 MW gas fired combined cycle power plant projects in Thailand. The owner of the projects is Gulf MP Company Ltd., who has selected Toyo Engineering Corporation Group as EPC contractor.
The Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the first project was issued on 6 February 2015 and the NTPs for the remaining projects will be issued in regular intervals between now and April 2017.
Pöyry's assignments include complete contractor's engineering services for the projects, including process and plant engineering, plant layout design, civil and structural design, mechanical and piping design, control and instrumentation design, electrical design, and procurement and tendering services. The overall schedule for all twelve projects is 53 months. The Commercial Operation Date for the first project is scheduled for May 2017 and all the projects are scheduled to have been completed by July 2019. These cogeneration plants are being implemented under Thailand's Small Power Producer (SPP) scheme, whereby 90 MW of each plant are sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and electricity and steam to industrial users in each locality.
"We are pleased to continue our good cooperation with Toyo and Gulf MP with these important projects. They illustrate the value added that Pöyry can provide for power projects in South East Asia due to our strong local office network and 50 years of experience in the region. In Thailand, Pöyry has been involved in more than half of the country's Independent Power Producer and Small Power Producer projects. In all South East Asia, we currently have more than 100 on-going power projects", says Anja Silvennoinen, President of Pöyry's Energy Business Group.
The value of the orders is not disclosed. Each order will be recognised within the Energy Business Group order stock upon receiving the NTPs, with the order for the first project recognised in Q1 2015.
