    SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2005--Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG)(AEX:PHI) announced that its Nexperia(TM) PNX1500 media processor is at the heart of the award-winning BenQ media gateway, which gives consumers the ability to wirelessly transmit audio and video information anywhere in their homes. The BenQ WM1100T Wireless/Ethernet transmission kit was recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) as a 2005 Innovations Design and Engineering honoree in the Home Data Networking category. Powered by Philips' PNX1500 technology, the BenQ media gateway will be shown at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) -- taking place January 6-9, 2005 in Las Vegas -- in the BenQ booth (LVCC South, Booth #30313) and in the Innovations display showcase in the CES Central Plaza of the LVCC.
    Philips' Nexperia PNX1500 media processor enables high-performance, multi-format media processing in a variety of advanced and easy-to-use consumer electronics applications. In addition to being utilized in media gateway applications such as the BenQ WM1100T, the PNX1500 is ideal for the next generation of digital media adapters, wirelessly enabled TVs and projectors, IP set-top boxes, and personal media players.

    Philips' Nexperia media processor supports encoding and decoding for most leading digital media standards, including MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, Windows Media and DivX-5. The media processor integrates a 10/100 Ethernet controller and supports advanced picture enhancements, including standard-definition (SD) to high-definition (HD) up-conversion and motion adaptive de-interlacing for progressive displays.
