PerkinElmer Recognizes Gas Chromatography Innovation at PITTCON 2005
PerkinElmer Inc. (NYSE: PKI), a leading provider of drug discovery, life science research, and analytical solutions, today announced that it will showcase industry-leading products and solutions at the annual Pittsburgh Conference (PITTCON) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, Booth 4728.
Among the products being shown are two new gas chromatography (GC) systems: the PerkinElmer-Arnel(TM) TOGA (transformer oil and gas analyzer) system, integrated with PerkinElmer's TurboMatrix(TM) Headspace Sampler, for the analysis of transformer oil fault gases; and a system featuring the PerkinElmer TurboMatrix Headspace Trap for the analysis of off-flavor components in beer. Both systems provide enhanced analysis while meeting industry standards and specifications.
During the show, PerkinElmer will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its GC technology by highlighting many of the "firsts" that PerkinElmer has achieved in product innovation over the past five decades.
PerkinElmer's booth will also showcase significant enhancements to the company's ELAN(R) line of ICP-MS instrumentation. These include a simplified new design, an application-specific software package called Chromera(TM) that efficiently combines all components of a speciation measurement system, and ELAN Enhanced Security software for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
Another highlight is the LABWORKS(TM) LIMS Online Administrator, which provides secure browser-based access for reviewing test information, results and reports.
Peter B. Coggins, Ph.D., president of PerkinElmer LAS, is a featured speaker at the American Chemical Society/Centcom Ltd. 27th Annual Breakfast, held at PITTCON on March 1.
"We are constantly motivated by our customers to develop powerful, integrated solutions of software, instruments and service that meet their needs," said Coggins. "PITTCON remains an important venue for connecting with customers and introducing market-driven solutions that will enhance their productivity and efficiency and accelerate their time to market for new products."
Other PITTCON highlights from PerkinElmer include:
-- The announcement of a new collaboration with Malvern
Instruments, a leading supplier of analytical solutions for
particle characterization, to offer customers in North America
a complete solution for their rheology and thermal analysis
needs.
-- TurboMass 5.1 software enhancements that streamline set-up and
ensure correct peak integration and identification through a
rapid review process.
-- PerkinElmer Universal Reflectance Accessory (URA), a
breakthrough sampling accessory for absolute reflectance
measurements at variable angles. The URA automates angle
changes, eliminates alignment issues, and permits instant
switching between reference and sample.
-- PerkinElmer LAMBDA(TM) 950, 850 and 650 UV/Vis/NIR and UV/Vis
spectrophotometers, the industry standard for high
performance, flexibility and convenience. Each model includes
the same range of modular components and snap-in accessories
to tackle a range of tough applications.
-- PerkinElmer Spectrum(TM) Spotlight(TM) 200 FTIR microscope
system, a fully automated, fully upgradeable, high performance
microscopy platform. This revolutionary system enables quick,
easy collection of high sample quality data, while in-field
upgrade to a full imaging system minimizes downtime and
extends IR analysis to new applications.
-- New 6.3 version of PerkinElmer TotalChrom(R) Chromatography
Data System, which brings a new level of performance and
increased productivity coupled with ease-of-use and
flexibility for fast-paced, high-throughput, high-volume data
reporting laboratories.
