Perini Building Co. Completes New Casino for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians The New, Well-Appointed San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino Was Delivered to the Tribe On Time and Under Budget
Perini Building Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Perini Corp. (NYSE:PCR), built the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians' new casino on time and on budget.
Perini built a new, three-level casino that includes VIP high-limit gaming, a large bingo area, stylish lounge, specialty restaurants and a buffet-style restaurant. The basement level houses a valet garage. Perini also constructed surface parking lots, a central plant, and a 1,290-car parking garage with an enclosed pedestrian bridge connecting to the casino. The climate-controlled, 425-foot-long bridge has four moving walkways to efficiently transport guests.
"The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and all of Perini's partners, including architect Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo (WATG), were very proactive throughout the entire construction process. The collaborative atmosphere on the project was instrumental in our ability to build such a quality project on time and on budget," said Dick Rizzo, chairman of Perini Building Co.
"We have always selected premier vendors and Perini had the expertise and stellar reputation needed to meet our expectations on the new San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino," said Deron Marquez, chairman of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. "Perini excels at high-quality construction and completing projects expeditiously -- which was of utmost importance to bring the tribe's vision of an outstanding entertainment facility to life."
The casino design incorporates elements of the tribe's cultural motifs and is articulated in paving patterns and glass etchings. A major focal point of the new property is a large water feature inside the casino's porte cochere entry. For guests entering the casino via the pedestrian bridge, Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo incorporated a 30-foot by 30-foot glass floor in the bridge where guests can walk directly over the water feature.
According to Brian Husting, project designer at Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo, "The goal was to produce a look that was relatively simple yet comfortable, something that would complement the surrounding area."
"Perini's contract was instrumental in driving economic stimulus in the community. To build the facility, Perini hired over 1,000 craftspeople," said Steve DeWees, project manager for Perini Building Co.
Perini Building Co. is one of the largest builders of hotels and casino projects in the country. The company specializes in fast-track, complex facilities. Parent company Perini Corp. recently ranked among the top 26 best-managed companies in America published by Forbes Magazine.
