Optical Keyhole Carries Presentations from Ciena, Tellabs, Infinera and Others

of customers, highlighting areas where investment is needed with regard
to the evolving optical network, and considers how to maintain
profitability under pricing pressures.
4. Ciena Corp (NASDAQ:CIEN): Vincent Morin, Senior Director, Systems
Engineering, EMEA, examines the technology and architecture of the
wavelength services network in light of new high-capacity packet-based
services, including hardware and software requirements, adoption of OTN
standards and use of ROADMs.
5. Tellabs Inc (NASDAQ:TLAB): Kim Papakos, Senior Product Manager,
explores market drivers for 40G and beyond in the metro, as well as
operator requirements, highlighting the technical challenges that must
be overcome to deliver 40G on metro ROADM-based networks.
6. Transmode AB: Jon Baldry, Technical Marketing Manager, identifies the
drivers for developing flexible metro WDM networks, then considers the
architectural choices using ROADMs in optical rings and where, why and
how they might be best deployed.
7. BTI Photonics: Glenn Thurston, VP Marketing, highlights growth
drivers for WDM at the network edge, including backhaul from last mile
devices, Ethernet and wavelength service delivery, considering how
increasing bandwidth demand is driving the development of a new class of
optical devices, including micro ROADM.
8. SFR: Ramesh Vasudevan, Senior Manager, Transport Network, addresses
capacity and economic pressures on the mobile network, key drivers for
WDM deployment, building an optical core network to carry NGN and
3G/HSDPA traffic as well as upgrading optical networks in the access and
backhaul.
