NRG Energy Swings To Profit In Q1, Reaffirms Adj. EBITDA Outlook

(RTTNews) - NRG Energy Inc. (NRG) Thursday announced first quarter net profit attributable to the company of $47 million compared to net loss of $136 million in the prior year. Earnings per share for the quarter was $0.24 compared to $0.37 a year ago. Comprehensive profit available to the common shares was $72 million, compared to loss of $129 million in the prior year.

On average, 8 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.06 per share. Analysts estimates usually exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter declined to $3.229 million from $3.829 million in the previous year. Wall Street expected $3.26 billion.

Looking ahead to the fiscal 2016, the company reaffirmed its adjusted EBITDA in range of $3000 to $3200 million. Street analysts are looking for $0.74 per share on revenue of $13.58 billion.
