NetBank Unveils Overnight Deposit Delivery Service Through The UPS Sto
Business Editors
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2005--NetBank, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTBK), a diversified financial services provider and parent company of NetBank(R) (www.netbank.com), today announced a new service that allows its retail, small business and mortgage customers to forward deposits and payments for posting the next business day through any of the 3,800 locations of The UPS Store(R) nationwide. The service, called QuickPost(SM), is free to NetBank customers.
"Our focus continues to be on becoming the easiest bank in America to do business with, and this service hits the mark through the convenience of The UPS Store network and the reliability of UPS's guaranteed Next Day Air delivery," said Douglas K. Freeman, chairman and CEO, NetBank, Inc. "Over the past 12-18 months, we've made strides in giving our customers even better access to their accounts through the addition of the country's second-largest ATM network and the QuickPost program. Now our customers have the ability to drop off deposits for shipment at any location of The UPS Store across the country and have the funds post to their account the next business day. This service levels the playing field as we compete with traditional banks and it further enhances our ability to provide our customers a superior combination of value and convenience."
NetBank began piloting the QuickPost service in November and it has become popular with customers from around the country. "As a resident of Hawaii, it usually takes several business days to have my deposits posted," said Chris Erice of Honolulu. "It's funny how I am so far away from NetBank's facilities, yet with QuickPost, I can conduct my bank activities as if there was a branch locally."
To use the QuickPost service, NetBank customers simply take their deposit items and completed deposit slip, or their check and mortgage payment coupon, to the nearest The UPS Store location. Once there, they place their deposit or payment in a QuickPost envelope for delivery to NetBank. All QuickPost envelopes are then sent via UPS Next Day Air delivery to NetBank's state-of-the-art deposit and payment processing facility in Atlanta. In the case of deposits, customers then receive an eNotice notifying them the item has been posted to their deposit account. QuickPost envelopes are available at The UPS Store locations. Cash deposits cannot be accepted.
"We design our products and services to fit the needs and lifestyles of our customers," said Mark Resnick, director of sales, NetBank. "The UPS Store locations are where our customers live, work and shop. So we've been able to leverage the physical presence of The UPS Store, along with UPS's expertise in speeding the movement of goods, information and funds, to offer our customers a fast, convenient and secure service."
With 3,800 locations across the United States, The UPS Store network makes up the largest single retail business services franchise in the world. In fact, 72 percent of the U.S. population lives within five miles of a location of The UPS Store.
