With nearly 600 reported deals representing more than $79 billion in aggregate transaction value since 2005, the transportation industry has seen significant deal activity and third party logistics is one of the hottest sectors for private equity investment and strategic buyer acquisitions in the industry.

Jonathon L. Ives, CFA, director and head of the Transportation and Logistics Group in Investment Banking at National City Capital Markets, will examine ways companies can capitalize on this phenomenon, either as a buyer or seller. He will provide an overview of several segments of the third party logistics industry including transportation management, warehousing, freight forwarding, expediting, fulfillment, reverse logistics, inventory and supply chain management and logistics technology.

Ives discussion will focus on the ongoing surplus of uncommitted capital in buyout funds, the hot sectors for funds that have been actively seeking platform portfolio companies or add-on acquisitions in third party logistics, as well as the activity of foreign and domestic strategic buyers in logistics and mergers and acquisitions.
