Motorola BSR 2000 Earns DOCSIS(R) 2.0 and 1.1 Qualification from CableLabs(R) in Certification Wave 42

HORSHAM, Pa., May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. today announced that the Motorola BSR 2000 has received DOCSIS(R) 2.0 and 1.1 qualification by CableLabs(R) in the recently completed Certification Wave 42.

The CableLabs(R) Certified(TM) Cable Modem project, also known as DOCSIS(R) (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification), defines interface requirements for cable modems involved in high-speed data distribution over cable television system networks.

The Broadband Services Router 2000 (BSR 2000) joins a growing family of Motorola products that are qualified for interoperability with the DOCSIS specifications, including the BSR 64000 CMTS/edge router.

The compact Motorola BSR 2000 is a DOCSIS 2.0 Qualified, high-performance Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS)/Edge Router that can be deployed as a stand-alone unit or in small clusters to support small or medium sized distribution hubs, multiple dwelling unit (MDU) facilities, or hospitality locations. The product can enable operators to generate incremental revenue, reduce operational cost, and more cost-effectively deliver voice, data and multimedia content and services.

The Motorola BSR 2000 has 1 downstream and 4 upstream channels as well as RFSentry(TM) functionality, which includes an extra receiver port to enable real time Advanced Spectrum Management without impacting data or voice services. The system is architected for 1+1 system redundancy and offers robust routing and SmartFlow(R) Quality of Service (QoS) to support services such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP), virtual private networks (VPN), and multimedia services. For cable operators looking to extend their service area, the product also has support for wireless broadband applications.

Some of the highlights of the robust Motorola BSR 2000 platform include: -- Compact, space-saving 1U platform can be installed in minutes by non-technical personnel. -- Support for DOCSIS 2.0, EuroDOCSIS 2.0, and J-DOCSIS, including A-TDMA and S-CDMA and up to 4 logical channels, which enables greater upstream bandwidth for VoIP and commercial data services. -- PacketCable(TM) 1.0 and PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) support. -- Flexible network interfaces, including Gigabit Ethernet with SFP optics and Fast Ethernet.
