Micro Focus to Discuss Best Practices in Test Automation at STARWEST 2010
Micro Focus® (LSE.MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, today announced that the company will participate in several sessions examining best practices in testing and test automation at the STARWEST Conference in San Diego, CA September 26 – October 1.
Micro Focus’ Clinton Sprauve, a senior product specialist for Silk testing solutions, and Dietmar Strasser, a senior testing manager, will be participating in sessions and sharing their testing experience and expertise.
In the session "State-driven Testing: An Innovation in UI Test Automation,” Dietmar Strasser will explore the drawbacks of keyword-driven testing, which include complexity and maintenance efforts. The session will focus on how state-driven testing employs an application state-transition model as its basis for UI testing to address the disadvantages of keyword-driven testing.
In the session "Futility-based Test Automation,” Clinton Sprauve will discuss how flawed test automation efforts have prevented many development teams from achieving the productivity and savings that their organizations expect and demand. He will share real-world customer experiences, expose the most common bad habits that test automation teams practice and reveal the common misconceptions about keyword-driven testing, test-driven development, behavior-driven development, and methodologies that can lead to futility-based test automation.
