Michael Buck Named Director of Maintenance for Con-Way Freight-Western

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Con-way Freight announced today that Michael Buck has been named director of maintenance for its western regional less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier Con-way Freight-Western.

Buck, who has over 25 years of experience in commercial freight transportation, fleet maintenance operations and management, will be based at the company's general office in Buena Park, Calif.

Buck will be directly responsible for maintenance operations control, strategic planning, policy development, vendor selection, budgeting and costing for a major truck maintenance network encompassing eight shop locations servicing a fleet of more than 6,000 pieces of freight transportation and handling equipment, and a maintenance workforce of 120 people in 11 Western states.

He succeeds George Motz, who previously served as Con-way Freight- Western's (previously known as Con-Way Western Express) chief maintenance executive and has retired following a distinguished 27-year career.

Buck started his career with a national parcel carrier, where over two decades he worked in various positions of increased responsibility including journeyman mechanic, operations supervisor, fleet supervisor, training manager and regional coordinator. His next responsibilities were as a senior manager with Jered Industries where he was director of fleet services with Exelon, and later served as group fleet director for Waste Management, Inc.

Buck is a graduate of Cabrini College where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in professional communication.
