MetLife's Dental Quality Initiatives Program Receives Recognition fro
Business Editors/Insurance Writers
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2005--MetLife today announced that it has been re-approved as a continuing education provider by the American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP). In this program, dentists and allied health care professionals may earn continuing education credits by participating in educational offerings sponsored by the MetLife Quality Initiatives Program. The credits may be used towards satisfaction of the requirements in most of the 53 U.S. licensing jurisdictions that require continuing education for dentists and other professionals and are also recognized by the Academy of General Dentistry. MetLife has been re-approved by the ADA CERP for the maximum four-year term.
The MetLife Quality Initiatives Program develops self-study dental education offerings to assist dental practitioners in promoting the improved oral health of their patients. The continuing education courses are available to both MetLife participating and nonparticipating dentists. Dental professionals can avail themselves of MetLife's self-study courses on a variety of oral health and dental practice topics online at www.metdental.com in the Continuing Education section.
"Continuing education is essential to the goal of improving the oral health of Americans. It is noteworthy that the American Dental Association continues to recognize MetLife's dedication to providing these resources," said Dr. James Kennedy, Dean Emeritus of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and Chair of the MetLife Dental Advisory Council. Formed in 1995, the MetLife Dental Advisory Council is comprised of practicing and academic dentists as well as corporate benefit representatives who oversee MetLife's Quality Initiatives Program.
Paul Michael, vice president, MetLife Dental Product, said, "MetLife is honored to receive this continued recognition from the American Dental Association for our Dental Quality Initiatives Program. Because practicing and academic dentists oversee MetLife's continuing education program, the courses offered are those that dental practitioners have said are important in addressing their patients' needs."
MetLife is the largest commercial dental administrator in the United States, administering dental benefits for over 20 million Americans at thousands of companies and organizations of all sizes.
