MetLife Enhances Universal Life Insurance Lineup; New Suite of Products Reflect Company's Drive to Strengthen its Post-Acquisition Product Selection

Improved Competitive Position
The Travelers Life & Annuity integration presented the opportunityto update MetLife's Guarantee Advantage Universal Life individual lifepolicy for certain age groups, improving the product's competitiveposition in the marketplace. Guarantee Advantage Universal Life isdesigned for value-conscious consumers who are not focused on lifeinsurance cash value growth, and instead want to maximize theirpermanent life insurance protection and minimize premium rates.
MetLife's survivorship product has also been updated and enhancedto meet the needs of both agency and independent distributionchannels. With the continued uncertainty in the estate taxenvironment, the focus of survivorship life insurance has shifted fromestate tax planning to legacy planning--Legacy Advantage SurvivorshipUniversal Life is being introduced to help facilitate that shift. Withthe availability of the Guaranteed Survivor Income Benefit, familiescan now leave their heirs a legacy of income they're guaranteed tonever outlive.
