Media Advisory: Duke Energy Completes Turbine Purchase for First Phase of Notrees Project

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Duke Energy has placed an order with Vestas for 91 megawatts of additional wind turbines for the first phase of its Notrees wind power project located in Ector and Winkler Counties, Texas.

The 55 wind turbines are scheduled to arrive on the western Texas site in the second half of next year and are anticipated to be in service by the end of 2008. Terms of the transaction with Vestas were not disclosed.

When completed in 2009, the Notrees wind power project will provide 150 megawatts of electricity. The Notrees project is part of the more than 1,000 megawatts of wind power development assets acquired by Duke from Tierra Energy in May 2007.
