MeadWestvaco Elects Dirk Krouskop Vice President, Safety, Health and Environment

MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) today announcedDirk Krouskop has been named vice president, Safety, Health andEnvironment (SH&E). In this role, Mr. Krouskop will provide leadershipto the company's SH&E function as it establishes its new sharedbusiness model, and further advance the company's performance in theareas of safety, health and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Krouskop has been with the company for 26 years, and in thattime he has held a variety of SH&E positions as well as corporatefunctions, and most recently served as director for enterprise SH&Estrategy and policy.

"Dirk's background and leadership complement the company'slong-standing commitment to safety, health and environmentalstewardship," said Mark Watkins, senior vice president ofMeadWestvaco. "His expertise will help MeadWestvaco further advance inthe areas of sustainable product design, asset protection, riskmanagement, and sustainable material and energy utilization."

Mr. Krouskop is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati withboth an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and a master'sdegree in environmental engineering. He also has a master's degree inbusiness administration from Ohio University.
