MAXIMUS Issues Personal Identity Verification Cards for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

MAXIMUS, Inc., (NYSE:MMS), a leading provider of government services, announced today that it has successfully issued the first Personal Identity Verification (PIV)–compliant badges under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Personnel Access and Security System (EPASS) program. The cards were configured and issued at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC. As part of Homeland Security Directive 12 (HSPD-12), MAXIMUS designed and implemented the EPASS badge system that both EPA employees and contractors will use for identity verification and controlling access to EPA’s buildings and facilities. The first field office deployment of the EPASS PIV is scheduled to be at the EPA’s new building in Potomac Yard, Virginia, where MAXIMUS assisted with the installation of the current badge system for the new PIV- compliant, physical access control system. The issuance of the PIV cards by the October 27, 2006, deadline set by the President reflects the culmination of nearly two years of planning and design work by the EPA that has been supported by MAXIMUS for the past year. Richard Montoni, Chief Executive Officer, noted, "MAXIMUS is pleased to be at the forefront of this very important identity management and security program for the Federal Government and we expect to further support its implementation as it moves to the state and local government level, as well as the commercial market.” MAXIMUS Systems Segment General Manager Drew Cramer said, "The work that the MAXIMUS team has accomplished in support of the EPASS program reflects the continuation of MAXIMUS leadership in the Identity Management and Access Control field, which began years ago with the pioneering development of smart card applications for the Department of Defense. We expect to continue that legacy of innovation and client service as we lead the development and deployment of other agencies’ HSPD-12 programs and solutions.” MAXIMUS is one of America’s leading government services companies devoted to providing program management, consulting and information technology services. The Company has more than 5,200 employees located in more than 220 offices in the United States, Canada and Australia.
