MAXIMUS (NYSE:MMS), a leading provider of health andhuman services consulting, program management, and informationtechnology solutions announced today at the Association of HigherEducation Facilities Officers' (APPA) Educational FacilitiesLeadership Forum the availability of FacilityMAX(TM), a revolutionarynew Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software application forfacilities and infrastructure management.

FacilityMAX(TM) is a comprehensive business solution that enablesorganizations to effectively track expenditures and improveaccountability, streamline operations, improve maintenance practices, extend the useful life of assets, lower utility costs, improve spaceutilization, and enhance service delivery. Its proven functionalityembraces every aspect of facilities operations, including maintenancemanagement, capital projects, facility condition assessment, realproperty management, linear asset management, utilities management, and facilities resource and event scheduling.

FacilityMAX(TM) blends the latest-generation Java 5.0 developmentenvironment and a lightweight J2EE development specification toproduce a powerful, fully-integrated, server-centric, EAM solution.Unlike solutions that rely on third-party development tools orproprietary development environments, FacilityMAX was conceived as anative Java application. Its ultra-lightweight design and openarchitecture deliver true standards-based interoperability, enterprisescalability, and ease of deployment.

"FacilityMAX(TM)'s modest IT footprint enables our customers torealize significant cost savings," said John Hines, President ofMAXIMUS Asset Solutions division. "Start-up costs are significantlylower, and fewer resources are required to deploy and support theapplication. Its open architecture also offers our customers a choice:they can deploy FacilityMAX(TM) in a completely open-sourceenvironment or deploy FacilityMAX(TM) utilizing existing ITinfrastructure without fear of interoperability issues."

Application customization is accomplished using J2EE constructsknown as "portals" (which enable users to group and manage Webcontent), "portlets" (which enable FacilityMAX(TM) to be implementedalongside other applications in a unified portal), and "Java ServerFaces" or "JSF" (which enable FacilityMAX(TM) to support customizableand reusable user interface components).

FacilityMAX(TM) also incorporates Really Simple Syndication("RSS") technology, a lightweight XML specification used by theFacilityMAX(TM) WorkDesk(TM) to group and deliver relevant RSS orFacilityMAX(TM)-conformant data "feeds" to specific users. TheWorkDesk environment facilitates a more efficient "push" versus "pull"user interaction model, and WorkDesk content can be drawn from anynumber of sources, including FacilityMAX(TM) records, externalapplications, reports, and publicly-available RSS feeds.

"The use of innovative technologies like JSF and RSS enableFacilityMAX(TM) to become substantially more than just a softwareapplication that runs in an Internet browser," Hines noted."FacilityMAX(TM) quite literally becomes an integral part of theInternet, securely sending and receiving user-relevant data to andfrom anywhere on the Internet."

FacilityMAX(TM) will be available for commercial delivery onOctober 1, 2005. Information on pricing, software licenses andimplementation services for FacilityMAX(TM) can be obtained today bycontacting MAXIMUS at (800) 659-9001.
