MatrixOne and Bosch to Co-Present at ProSTEP iViP Symposium

    Who: Klaus Bruchhagen of MatrixOne GmbH and Dr. R. Wolf of Robert Bosch GmbH will co-present the case study "A Worldwide PLM Backbone in a Heterogeneous Landscape" at the ProSTEP iViP Symposium 2005, taking place this week in Berlin, Germany.
    What: This case study will highlight a challenge that many companies face today--the fact that no strategic IT project can be truly started from scratch, as every company has already made significant investments in various IT systems. The more decentralized a company is, the greater the variety of systems used and the greater the number of interface problems involved. In addition to the IT challenge, there is also a strategic challenge: changes necessary for continued improvement become increasingly difficult or impossible.
    Robert Bosch has now developed a concept which maximizes the benefits of existing investments--and at the same time creates a platform on which all systems and users creating or using product data can access. This should fill a gap not as yet filled by current systems and improve or make communication possible between the existing systems, all while still offering the option of using less and less different systems in the future.
    Due to the high level of standard functionality, the unique level of flexibility of the system and the modern technology it is based on, Bosch has decided to build this "PLM backbone" across all departments of the company with MatrixOne PLM. This case study will discuss the goals and methods.
