Believers of all ages are invited to drop off letters – stamped and addressed to Santa At The North Pole – at any Macy’s store in the Santa Mail letterbox. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, up to $1 million, to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The nostalgic holiday campaign is inspired by the New York Sun’s famous "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” editorial from 1897.

The 63rd annual event kicks off with a show featuring performances by Katharine McPhee, Chuck Wicks and Macy's Rising Star Bobby V. and includes a fireworks finale as the tree is lit! The Pink Pig is back this holiday season at Macy's at Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta. The beloved tradition rides again beginning Oct. 30, 2010 and will run through Jan. 2, 2011. Since its 1953 debut as a children's ride at the downtown department store Rich's, five generations of Atlantans have ridden the Pink Pig and worn the signature 'I Rode the Pink Pig' sticker with pride to kick-off the holiday season. True to tradition, a portion of the proceeds from each ride will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Each ride costs $3 and repeat rides have a special discounted price (2 rides for $5.50, 3 rides for $7.50).

State Street’s annual holiday events are home to crowds both in and around the store that gather each year to see the magic of the season unfold within the themed window displays. Macy’s 48th annual holiday auditorium display will delight guests of all ages as "A Day in the Life of an Elf at Macy's Santaland®” tells the story of Santa's elves at the North Pole as they prepare for Christmas. Auditorium guests will enjoy seeing what happens in an elf's life from waking up and getting Santa's mail to teaching the reindeer how to fly and learning about Christmas traditions.

Santa Claus will make his annual appearance Nov. 20 through Dec. 24 to gather the holiday wish lists of children across the land. Be sure to ask his elves about the various photo packages available. This marks the 11th year that Macy’s is the official wardrobe supplier of the Tournament of Roses Queen and Court. On New Year's Day, the royal float will make its way down Colorado Boulevard, complete with the 2011 Rose Queen and her six Rose Princesses. The float itself, made entirely out of flowers, features magnificently sculpted urns of cascading rose arrangements in raspberry and bright orange. An oversized replica of a crown sits at the front of the float, decorated with coconut chips, white button chrysanthemums, sweet rice and lunaria. The Rose Queen and Court make more than 150 public appearances between their coronation and New Year's Day, all in a wardrobe provided by Macy’s.

DICKEN’S VILLAGE

A beloved Philadelphia tradition for over 20 years, "Dicken’s Village” is alive and well in its home at Macy’s Center City. Housed in the Egyptian Room of the famed Wanamaker Building, the 6,000-square-foot walk-through experience is now a holiday mainstay at Macy’s. The Village was recently restored, re-built and re-animated so that Philadelphians will be able to take a trip back in time to 1840s London. With 26 heart-warming scenes, the stage is set for the story of "Scrooge.” Macy’s will have a photo operation that will allow visitors to capture the magic of the exhibit and spirit of the season, as well as visit and take photos with Santa Claus.

For the first time, Macy’s takes a starring role in the San Antonio River Parade, with Santa joining in the fun, flying straight to Texas from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The River Parade takes place on San Antonio's famed River Walk, and all the "floats" are barges. The Macy’s float will feature the Believe campaign, including children from the local Make-A-Wish chapter. In addition to the thousands who watch in person, the parade is televised for all of central Texas to watch.

HOLIDAY WINDOWS AT MACY’S UNION SQUARE

Macy’s will once again partner with San Francisco’s Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to give homeless cats and dogs a second chance to find warm and loving homes. Holiday shoppers can glimpse some of San Francisco’s cutest animals along with Santa himself, in Macy’s Stockton and O’Farrell Street windows. Additionally this year, the Union Square holiday windows bring to life the classic story of Virginia O'Hanlon, a little girl who chose to believe in Santa Claus.

21ST ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING AT MACY’S UNION SQUARE

Macy’s Great Tree in Union Square, Macy’s gift to the city and most recognized Christmas tree, will be officially lit in Union Square. An 80-foot Shasta White Fir from the Carlton Tree Farm in Mount Shasta will be adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and 1,500 red and gold ornaments. For the seventh year, Macy’s has made UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital the beneficiary of its annual tree lighting. For $5, anyone can sponsor a light bulb to illuminate the tree; all proceeds go directly to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital’s Compass Care program, which supports families whose children have life-threatening illnesses. There will be musical performances and of course, Santa Claus will lead thousands of holiday revelers in a spirited countdown before throwing the switch to light the tree.
