Lufthansa Pilots To Go On Strike On Tuesday
(RTTNews) - several long haul flights of Deutsche Lufthansa have canceled their schedule as pilots union has announced a strike on Tuesday. Cargo flights also will be affected in the one day strike.
The company expressed regrets for any inconvenience caused to the passengers and claimed that it will be able to offer 90 of the scheduled long haul flights and cargo flights. The strike will start at 8.00 on Tuesday and will last up to 23.59.
Vereinigung Cockpit, the pilots' union, have been in dispute with the management on cost cutting initiatives, raising of age limit for early retirement plans and wage related issues. Last year, the union have staged 10 strikes causing heavy loss to the airline. In the last 18 months, the airline is projected to loss around $350 million in pilots' walkout.
In its website, the company said it has arranged special flight schedule for the passengers. It has offered re-booking for Lufthansa, Swiss, Australian Airlines of Brussels airline tickets for flights on Tuesday.
