Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 2005--Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. (E&S(R)) (Nasdaq: ESCC) announced today that Lufthansa Flight Training (LFT) has purchased two more EP(TM)-1000CT visual systems. These systems, including image generators and projectors, will be used to replace the existing visual systems installed on LFT B757 and A320 simulators.
Lufthansa is the world's largest operator of the latest EP-1000CT system, having 13 simulators equipped and in training with the new product at its facilities in Frankfurt and Berlin. The 13th system was certified on Feb. 9 by Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) and is now in service. This order marks the 15th and 16th EP-1000CT systems to be sold to Lufthansa.
David Rushton, managing director of E&S' Commercial Simulation division, commented, "We are once again delighted that Lufthansa has chosen to include E&S visual systems as it looks to expand its training capabilities and to offer its customers the very best in training services and equipment."
Norbert Wiesner, vice president Flight Simulators, commented, "LFT is gradually replacing its older visual systems to cope with operational requirements and customer demand for the highest training quality. The cooperation with E&S enables us to be at the cutting edge of training."
EP-1000CT has initiated a new era in visual realism for commercial aviation training. At the top of E&S' Environment Processor product line, EP-1000CT is designed specifically to meet the exacting requirements for FAA/JAA Level D (and equivalent) flight training. Unique training features include a whole-earth database, detailed airport scenes, complex terrain, advanced weather effects, and E&S' Continuous Texture(TM) (CT), which provides a seamless, high-resolution, textured 3D worldwide training environment.
