Liz Frazier joins the Copper Banking team as the Executive Director of Financial Literacy
SEATTLE, July 2, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Copper Banking, a digital bank for teens focused on building financial literacy, has partnered with financial literacy expert Liz Frazier to advise on financial education concepts and content throughout the Copper owned properties.
Liz is the author of "Beyond Piggy Banks and Lemonade Stands: How To Teach Young Kids About Finance" and a Certified Financial Planner specializing in financial planning for families and working professionals. Liz focuses on educating kids of all ages on finance.
"We are thrilled to welcome Liz to the Copper team," said Copper Co-founder and CEO Eddie Behringer. "Her proven success in the financial literacy space supports our mission of creating a more financially educated generation."
The teenage years are especially important to ensure that young adults have a strong financial foundation before leaving the home. Copper Banking was founded with the mission to help teens gain real world experience with money but giving them education about and access to their money in a way that traditional banks aren't able to do.
"The teenage years are such a critical time - kids have only a short time to learn the basics of finance before becoming an adult, where they have to make money decisions that can have a life-long impact. You would think they learn this in school, but sadly most high schools don't require a personal finance class. This is why I'm so excited to join Copper, because we share the same vision of empowering this generation and preparing teens for adulthood. Copper does this by providing a real-world experience where kids can learn money management in a safe environment." noted Frazier.
Liz is an expert in ways that teens can begin practicing money management in a safe environment, including earning their own money, opening bank accounts, saving, budget exercises and the value in letting them learn by doing. Liz will play an integral role in providing the core concepts that teens must understand and provide easy ways to teach complex subjects such as investing and interest.
"Liz will provide parents and teens a lot of value when navigating the uncomfortable, yet necessary conversations around college funding, student loans as well as the dangers of debt. We could not be more excited to have her on the team" remarked Behringer.
