Leo Motors Files Two Patents for Its ZAFCG

Leo Motors, Inc. (Pink Sheets: LEOM) announced today that its two patent applications regarding Leo’s Zinc Air Fuel Cell Generator (ZAFCG) were accepted and filed by the Korea Patent Office. The two patents are for the zinc-air fuel cell reaction cell structure, and for the zinc-air fuel cell assembly.

The zinc-air fuel cell assembly includes: an anode pocket including an accommodation space for accommodating zinc balls and an electrolyte therein; a current collector disposed in the anode pocket, for collecting electrons generated during a reaction between the zinc balls and oxygen in the accommodation space; a housing including the anode pocket and the current collector therein; and a spraying nozzle installed in the housing and spraying a cleaning solution to the accommodation space at a high pressure, for deintercalating zinc oxide adsorbed to the zinc balls. The assembly maximizes an efficiency of generating electrons by increasing a reaction efficiency between zinc balls and oxygen by deintercalating zinc oxide, which is generated during a reaction between the zinc balls and oxygen and is adsorbed to the zinc balls, from the zinc balls.

The zinc-air fuel cell reaction cell structure includes: an anode pocket including an accommodation space for accommodating zinc balls and an electrolyte therein, wherein the zinc balls react with oxygen contained in air; and a current collector for collecting electrons generated during a reaction in the accommodation space, wherein the current collector includes a division plate for dividing the accommodation space into two parts, and a plurality of ribs for dividing each part into at least two parts, wherein zinc balls are positioned between the ribs so as to increase a contact area between the current collector and the zinc balls. The zinc-air fuel cell reaction cell structure maximizes an efficiency of collecting electrons to increase an efficiency of using a battery by forming zinc balls and a current collector for collecting electrons so as to increase a contact area between the zinc balls and the current collector.

Leo has also developed the ZAFC generation system to be operated from inside of a zinc-hybridized Electric Vehicle (EV). Leo has applied for 14 patents for its EV technologies and plans to apply for 4 new patents regarding ZAFCG technologies to feed zinc balls into the system automatically, to collect sludge in the filter, and to stop the generation of electricity as soon as the battery is fully charged, or as soon as the driver does not want to charge the battery any further from the ZAFCG. Dr. Kang, CEO of Leo Motors, stated, "We overcame the biggest obstacle of EV by inventing ZAFCG. ZAFCG will free EV from range limitation with affordable costs. Many professionals have tried to develop a system to use ZAFCG from inside the car, but nobody else has succeeded that we know.”

About Leo Motors
